Dr Lurve builds up to Valentine’s Day
Drop in poetry sessions for organisations and businesses

Poet, Dave Wood, aka Dr Lurve, is offering to sit in departments, foyers and corridors of local and national businesses creating love poems for their customers.  A well-seasoned peripatetic wordsmith, he has worked in many public scenarios, including festivals, shops, galleries and libraries.  He always dons his white coat and stethoscope…

Mr Wood says, ‘Once the organisation books me, as their visitors come in, participants are offered a love poem for their partner; when they’ve give me enough information, I can produce a personally crafted piece of writing in fifteen minutes‘, he ends.

Bring Dr Lurve in for a full day’s residency and delight your customers’ heart-base as they experience the wordplay.  Contact him direct on davewrite2002[at]gmail.com for fees and booking information.

Have a look at http://specialpoetry.blogspot.co.uk/ for more details and some past commissions.

The Bean and the Biro
Dave Wood offers creative writing at Fusion Cafe, Chilwell

Writer, Dave Wood, is running a practical creative writing session at The Fusion Cafe in Chilwell's Creative Corner on 31st July, 6.30pm - 8.30pm.  Cost is £3 per person: a bargain.

Dave Wood, recently returned from Lincolnshire's Transported into Poetry' scheme, creating poems for the public at the mobile library, is facilitating a creative writing session at Fusion Cafe in Chilwell's Creative Corner on 31st July, 6.30pm - 8.30pm.  Cost is £3 per person.

Dave, who began his career in language arts in 1988, wants to encourage locals to this cultural aspect of Chilwell, just at the end (or the beginning!) of the current tram-works.  He's dropped his usual fee to enable participants to try out or to revitalise their writing, sparking their own imaginative growth.  He's also keen to be part of this blossoming in local businesses (he's a big fan of cake).   Please book, as there are a limited number of spaces.  Phone Dave Wood on O77O9977684 or email davewrite2002[at]gmail.com.  Bring pens, imagination and blank A4 paper.

Everything goes Niddy
New collection of local writing launched May 30th 2012

Songs for the Nids, Dave Wood’s fourth, vibrant collection of poetry is now available for sale at 75p (minimum).  The fifteen poems, including a variation on his cultish, ‘on being sold hoops instead of alphabetti spaghetti’ will be launched at Two4Tea, 92 Derby Road, Stapleford at 7.30pm.  Dave will launch the collection in his own active and inimitable style of performance.  Admission is £2 per person to include a copy of the broadsheet.  If you’ve bought a copy already, bring it on the night and entrance is £1.25.

Everything’s gone Niddy, says Dave Wood, local quirksome poet and arts worker.

Finally after a long gestation period, feeding on all kinds of inspiration (spaghetti hoops, bicycles, blenders and Dorset ice cream), Mr Wood is ready to niddy forth to release his fourth collection of writing.

This time it’s a little bit different; he says, ‘I’m using a (just larger than) A3 broadsheet format – both sides are nidded up to the eyeballs with rhyme and unrhymed, serious and ridiculous and it’s only 75p (minimum)’ [end quote]

If you’d like one by post, you need to send £2 to cover postage and administration. (bear in mind, your copy will need to be folded).  He states 75p minimum as folks are happily paying more, one family in Dorset sent him a cheque recently for £10.00…

Dave has just completed a poetry commission about meeting up in Heathrow Airport called Terminal Romance as well as a second one, based on, shall we say…?... toiletry matters.

It’s already on sale and May 30th is the official launch date. If you’d like to book a ticket, let Dave know to guarantee you a seat.  There’s a maximum capacity of 40 at one time.

And don’t forget, it’s good for the nids.

Poet goes sweet
Poems about chocolate anyone?

Dave Wood is offering personally written poems about chocolate or confectionary for the month of April 2012 for only £10.

Poems about chocolate anyone?

Dave Wood’s poetic practices push into pleasures of a more sweet toothed kind; he is offering poems about confectionary for the whole of April for a mere sugary £10.

Dave, who sees the importance of jam as well as bread, says ‘These are hard times to tell you the tooth…so send someone a poem with a box of chocs to cheer you both up…’ [end quote].  Dave normally charges £30 for a commissioned poem so have a dip dab…

That’s enough now, Dave.  Back in the pick and mix.
